Office Movers in Sharjah

Free zones, lift bookings, confidential files and weekend starts. We move your office while you are closed, so your people sit down and work on Sunday morning.

An office move is a downtime problem wearing a furniture problem’s clothes. Nobody calls a mover because desks need carrying. They call because the business has to stop working on Thursday evening and start working again on Sunday morning, and every hour in between is costing something.

We run Alsatee Movers out of Abu Shagara, in Sharjah, and have done since January 2020. Most of our office work is booked for evenings and weekends, because that is when a building will give you the service lift and when your staff are not trying to work around a crew carrying their desk.

Ten trucks and our own crew means an office goes in one planned run with one team that knows the floor plan, rather than a different set of men on each trip.

Offices in Sharjah’s free zones

A free zone office is not a harder move. It is a move with a gate in front of it, and the gate runs on its own schedule.

Sharjah has several, and each has its own access and security arrangements:

  • SAIF Zone — Sharjah Airport International Free Zone, next to Sharjah International Airport.
  • Hamriyah Free Zone (HFZA) — with direct access to Hamriyah Port.
  • Shams — Sharjah Media City.
  • SPC Free Zone — Sharjah Publishing City.
  • SRTIP — Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park, next to University City.

What we need from you is the free zone name, the building and unit, and the name on the licence. Entry passes for a vehicle and a crew are arranged in advance, not talked about at the barrier, and the authority or the facilities team usually sets which hours a move is allowed in. Tell us at the survey and we make those arrangements before the date is fixed rather than after.

If you are leaving a free zone unit entirely rather than moving within it, say so at the survey. Handing a unit back has its own inspection and its own timing, and the furniture has to be out before that happens.

Weekends, evenings and after-hours moves

Most of the offices we move do not move during office hours.

A Thursday evening start with Friday and Saturday to finish is the normal shape, because it gives two clear days to unload, rebuild and set up before anyone needs their desk. Smaller offices go in a single evening. Where a building restricts moving to particular hours, we work to that window and plan the loading order so the first truck leaves inside it.

Weekend and evening slots fill first, especially at the end of a month when leases turn over. Book earlier for those than you would for a weekday job.

Building management, service lifts and loading access

In a Sharjah office tower, the building decides more about your moving day than the mover does.

  • Service lift booking. Most towers require the lift to be reserved for a block of time, and some take a refundable deposit for it.
  • Crew passes. Security usually wants crew names and the vehicle details before the day.
  • Loading bay and parking. Where the truck stops sets the carry distance, and a long carry through a lobby is slower than any staircase.
  • Permitted hours. Some buildings do not allow moves during business hours at all, which is often what forces the weekend.
  • Protection. Lift interiors, lobby floors and door frames get covered before anything moves through them, because the building will inspect them afterwards.

Give us the building name and the facilities contact at the survey. We would rather make those calls ourselves a week ahead than have a crew waiting in a lobby for a lift that was never booked.

Desks, workstations and partitions

Office furniture is built to be taken apart, which is the one thing that makes an office easier than a villa.

Workstation clusters come apart into panels, legs, tops and brackets. Modular partitions and screens unbolt. Meeting tables, reception counters and tall storage units are dismantled rather than carried whole. Pedestals and filing cabinets are emptied, locked and moved as units. Chairs are the only thing that goes straight on the truck.

Hardware from each cluster is bagged and labelled against the desk number it came from, because a workstation rebuilt with the wrong brackets is a workstation that wobbles for the next three years.

IT, servers and phones — what we do and what we do not

This is where we are going to be straighter with you than most office moving pages are.

What we do: disconnect and label cabling, move monitors, docks, printers, phones, network gear and server racks in proper protection, and set the equipment back on the right desks and in the right room at the other end, matched to the floor plan.

What we do not do: back up your data, shut down and restart servers, reconfigure a network, or re-provision phone lines. That is your IT person or your IT provider’s work, and a moving crew pretending otherwise is how businesses lose a day.

What we do instead is sequence with them. Your IT contact tells us when the equipment is powered down and ready, we move it, and we tell them when it is in place so they can bring it back up. Give us their name and number at the survey and we coordinate directly rather than through you on a Friday evening.

Files, documents and confidential records

Every office has a cupboard of things that must not end up in an open box on a pavement.

Contracts, HR files, accounts, client records and anything else you would not leave on a desk travel in sealed and numbered crates, inventoried before they leave and checked against that list when they arrive. Filing cabinets either travel locked with the contents in place, or are emptied into crates where they are too heavy to move full — we decide which at the survey, not on the day.

If there are records that only certain people should handle, tell us and we will keep those crates together and hand them over to the person you name rather than putting them with the general unload.

Safes, server racks and heavy items

A safe is the item most likely to stop an office move.

Weight, lift capacity and floor loading all have to be checked before the day, and so does the route from the old room to the lift. Tell us at the survey if you have a safe, a full server rack, a large printer or press, or anything bolted to the floor. These change the crew, the equipment and sometimes the order of the whole day, and they are the one category that genuinely cannot be worked out on a Thursday evening.

Labelling and the floor plan

The difference between an office that works on Sunday morning and one that does not is a floor plan drawn before the move, not after it.

Before moving day we want a plan of the new office with a number on each desk position. Every workstation, pedestal, chair, monitor and crate is labelled against that number. On unload, each item goes to its number rather than into a pile in the middle of the floor, and your people arrive to their own desk with their own things on it.

If you do not have a plan, we will walk the new office with you at the survey and mark one up. It takes half an hour and it saves most of a day.

SEWA and the new premises

The electricity and water account follows the premises, not the furniture, and it is the item most often left until the week of the move.

The account on the office you are leaving has to be closed and cleared with SEWA, and the new premises needs an account in your name before your people are sitting in it. Sort the new one first. An office with no power on Sunday morning is a worse outcome than an office with the desks in the wrong place.

We do not file any of this for you, and we are not your facilities agent. What we do is ask about it at the survey and plan the move around the dates you give us, so the old unit is empty when it needs a final reading and the new one is live before the trucks arrive.

Packing an office

Offices pack faster than homes and go wrong in different places.

  • Every member of staff packs their own desk into labelled crates — we deliver the crates in advance and collect them after. People pack their own things better than anyone else does.
  • The kitchen, the store cupboard and the server room are ours, because that is where the breakable and the awkward live.
  • Marketing stock, samples, signage and exhibition material get counted, not guessed at. It is always more than anyone remembers.
  • Anything you are not taking should be dealt with before the day rather than loaded and dumped at the other end.

For the detail on materials and what full packing covers, see our packing services page.

When the new office is not ready

Office leases line up even less often than home ones, and a fit-out running two weeks late is normal rather than unusual.

If you have to be out before the new premises is finished, the office goes into storage and comes out when the fit-out is signed off. Furniture, crates and equipment are inventoried going in so you know exactly what is there, and delivered in the order the new office needs rather than all at once. Our storage services page covers how that works.

Tell us at the survey if the fit-out date is uncertain. It changes how we label, because things going into storage need an inventory that things going straight onto a desk do not.

What changes the price of an office move in Sharjah

We do not publish an office price and we do not put a calculator on this page, because two offices with the same number of desks come out very differently once you know which floors they are on and when they are allowed to move.

If you are collecting quotes and looking for the cheapest one, these are what actually move the number:

  • Number of workstations, not floor area. Desks, pedestals and chairs are the unit that matters.
  • Dismantling and rebuilding. Workstation clusters and partitions are labour, and rebuilding is slower than taking apart.
  • When you move. Evenings, weekends and out-of-hours work costs more than a weekday, and it is usually the building that forces it rather than you.
  • Lift access and carry distance at both ends, and whether the lift has to be booked and paid for.
  • IT volume and protection. Server racks and large equipment need crating and more careful handling.
  • Crates and packing materials, and whether staff pack their own desks.
  • Confidential records, where inventoried and sealed crates are needed.
  • Storage, if the fit-out is not finished.
  • Free zone access, where passes and permitted hours limit when the work can be done.

If you are after the best office movers in Sharjah rather than the lowest number, the thing worth checking is whether the company came and looked at both offices before quoting. An office quote given over the phone has not seen your lift, your safe or your server room, and all three change the day.

How an office move runs, start to finish

  1. Survey, both ends. We walk the office you are leaving and the one you are going to. Desk count, safe, server room, lift access, parking, permitted hours. You get the plan and the price from that.
  2. Dates and access. Lift booked, crew passes submitted, free zone entry arranged, and the window agreed with your building and ours.
  3. Crates delivered. Staff pack their own desks during the week. We mark up the floor plan and number the desk positions.
  4. Move night. Protection down first, then IT disconnected and labelled, workstations dismantled, loaded in planned order.
  5. Rebuild. Workstations and partitions back together at the new office, every item to its numbered position, equipment on the right desks.
  6. Handover. Crates collected once staff have unpacked, packing material taken away, and anything outstanding dealt with before we invoice.

Where we work in Sharjah

We move offices across the emirate — the towers along the main commercial roads, the industrial areas, the free zones above, and the small units and single rooms that make up most of Sharjah’s business stock.

Our area pages cover Al Qasimia, Al Majaz, Al Khan, Abu Shagara, Al Nahda and Muwaileh, and the main movers in Sharjah page covers the rest.

Whichever building you are in, give us the exact address and the floor at the survey. In Sharjah the lift and the loading access change from one tower to the next on the same street.

Moving an office out of Sharjah

Sharjah to Dubai is the common one, and it is the route where timing matters most. We load in the evening and cross before the morning traffic rather than fighting it with a full truck. See office movers in Dubai and movers in Dubai.

Sharjah to Ajman is a short run, and the utility to close at the old premises is EtihadWE rather than SEWA. See movers in Ajman.

Sharjah to Abu Dhabi is a long-haul day planned as one run with the crew travelling with the load. See movers in Abu Dhabi.

If you are moving home as well as the office, our villa movers in Sharjah and furniture movers in Sharjah pages cover that side, and how to choose movers in Sharjah sets out what to check before you book anyone.

Frequently asked questions

Do you move offices at night or at the weekend?

Most of our office work is evenings and weekends, because that is when buildings release the service lift and when your staff are not working around us. A Thursday evening start with Friday and Saturday to finish is the usual shape. Those slots fill first at month end, so book earlier for them.

How long does an office move in Sharjah take?

A small office of a few desks goes in one evening. A full floor is normally loaded on one night and rebuilt over the following day. The desk count, the lift access and the permitted hours set it, and we give you the answer at the survey rather than on the day.

Can you move an office in SAIF Zone or Hamriyah Free Zone?

Yes, and in Shams, SPC and SRTIP. Give us the free zone, the building and unit, and the name on the licence. Vehicle and crew passes are arranged in advance, and we work to whatever hours the authority or the facilities team allows.

Do you handle our servers and IT?

We move the physical equipment — disconnecting, labelling, protecting, transporting and setting it back on the right desks. We do not back up data, shut down or restart servers, or reconfigure a network. That is your IT provider, and we sequence the move directly with them.

How do you handle confidential files?

Contracts, HR files, accounts and client records travel in sealed, numbered crates, inventoried before they leave and checked against that list on arrival. Where particular records should only be handled by particular people, we keep those crates together and hand them to the person you name.

Do we need to book the service lift ourselves?

Give us the building name and the facilities contact and we deal with it. Most Sharjah towers want the lift reserved for a block of time and some take a deposit for it. Doing it a week ahead is the difference between a crew working and a crew waiting in a lobby.

Who packs the desks — us or your staff?

Staff pack their own desks into crates we deliver in advance, because people pack their own things better than anyone else can. We take the kitchen, the store cupboard, the server room and anything breakable or awkward.

Can you move a safe?

Usually, but it is the item we most need to see first. Weight, lift capacity, floor loading and the route out all have to be checked at the survey. Tell us about a safe, a full server rack or anything bolted down before the date is fixed.

What if our new office fit-out is not finished?

The office goes into storage and comes out when the fit-out is signed off, delivered in the order the new office needs rather than all at once. Everything is inventoried going in so you know exactly what is there.

Do you provide crates, or do we buy boxes?

We deliver crates before the move and collect them after you have unpacked. For offices they are better than cartons — they stack, they do not collapse, and they seal properly for files.

Is our equipment covered if something is damaged?

Ask us before you book and we will tell you exactly what cover applies to your move and what it does not. Tell us at the survey what the high-value equipment is so it is accounted for properly rather than discussed afterwards.

How much does an office move in Sharjah cost?

There is no single price that fits every office. It comes from the workstation count, the dismantling and rebuilding, when you are allowed to move, lift and carry access at both ends, IT volume, and whether you need storage. We survey both offices free of charge and give you the number from what is actually there.
